Cairo, Egypt – 4 March 2024
In the presence of the Most Rev. Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Alexandria, and H.E. Mrs. Nuala O’Brien, Ambassador of Ireland to Egypt, the Centre of Christian-Muslim Understanding & Partnership (CCMUP), in collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland in Cairo, organized an intercultural music workshop bringing together young Egyptian and Irish musicians at All Saints Anglican Cathedral in Zamalek, Cairo, as part of the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
The workshop provided participants with an opportunity to discover and appreciate each other’s traditional music and instruments while learning to perform together. By using music as a bridge between cultures, the initiative encouraged young people to engage with cultural differences through curiosity, respect, and collaboration, contributing to a deeper understanding of diversity and promoting tolerance, peace, and intercultural connection.
Representing CCMUP, Mr. Kareem Gerges, Director of International Partnerships & Communications, co-organized and coordinated the workshop with the Irish Embassy.
