On 13 December 2024, the Centre of Christian-Muslim Understanding & Partnership (CCMUP), in cooperation with the Gusour Cultural Center, organized a symposium entitled “Egypt in My Mind”, presented by the politician and physician Dr. Hossam Badrawi, at the All Saints Anglican Cathedral, in Cairo, Egypt.

Bishop Mounir opened the symposium by welcoming the audience, on behalf of Archbishop Dr. Sami Fawzy, and then gave an overview about CCMUP’s projects, highlighting its Islamic & Christian academic studies, community initiatives, and peace-building projects. The Gusour Cultural Center also aims to bring together all members of society through art, music, and cultural discussions.

Dr. Hossam Badrawi emphasized that “We need greater efficiency and effectiveness in state administration that must not be compromised, choosing the best, periodically ‘renewing blood’, respecting science and scientists, in addition to raising the ceiling of dreams, as we need boldness in thinking, sustainability in application, setting and announcing priorities, and accountability for spending.”

He continued: “The ability to choose and decide is the challenge of the hour and the challenge of the future. We can either make every opportunity before us a problem and a crisis, or see and discover in every crisis we face a new opportunity that can be invested and developed through it, and this will depend on our efficient handling of reality.”

He stressed that the difficult problems we face cannot be solved by applying the same intellectual approach that we used when we found such problems, but by changing the intellectual orientation.

CCMUP was established in June 2022 in the Anglican Diocese of Egypt. It aims to serve Egyptian society by promoting peace, understanding and cooperation between different religious communities through academic programs, community initiatives, peacemaking projects and conflict resolution.

I respect and admire Angela Merkel. She is a great Chancellor. She is a lady of principals. Standing by the truth gave her strength and authority. She confronted international problems and made peace for the nations. She opened her country for refugees against all opposition.
